Building Your Business Success
<<<
Part Three>>>

All businesses evaluate the bottom line of expense versus return in order to survive. How do you build your business success without crushing the bottom line of your business? How do you become the market expert with name and brand recognition in your area without emptying the bank?

These tips will help you spend little money and get a return on your investment that you can measure.

Your business card: If you have only one side of your business card printed, you're wasting paper! Take advantage of the advertising space available on the reverse of your card. Don't use pre-printed calendars or mortgage calculation tables... use the space to add you value benefits for buyers and sellers. Offer free reports and tools that they may need. Make them want to call you... "Save thousands on your next real estate transaction! Ask me how?"

Note cards by the 1,000's: Buy yourself a bulk of note cards, either thank you or plain cards with your company logo, your name and contact information preprinted. Use these cards for everything. Carry a stack in your car, at you home, in your office... and send them to everyone you have a conversation with. If you meet the receptionist from your doctors office at the grocery store, send a note saying it was nice talking with them, and if you can help them or their friends with their real estate needs, have them give you a call. If you have a conversation with potential buyer at the office, send them a card thanking them for considering you with the purchase of their new home.

Letters, postcards and door hangers: Regular contact with your sphere and farm areas will bring you regular business. Most agents forget that after they have built their business to a 'comfortable' level, they stop doing the things that brought them business in the first place. You have to keep in contact with your friends, family, past clients and farm areas, just to stay in business. Contact every 30 days is essential, even if it is just a note saying "hello". Many programs can be set up through online services for reasonable prices, taking the headache and reminder away from you and into the hands of the company you entrust to your business follow-up. You don't need to spend a lot of money to stay in touch, but if you want to stay in business and increase your success, you will need some system in place that continues the 'point-of-contact' with your oversight - not your intervention.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
(ask us your questions = faq@sellstate.com)

Q - Why is it that I cannot open a Microsoft Word file when I have Microsoft Word?

A - With the release of the Microsoft Office 2007 (which includes a new version of Microsoft Word) the format that the file is saved is now different. If you are running Microsoft Word 2003 or older there is a good chance that this is why you cannot open the file. If this is the case, to open the file you will either need to upgrade to the new version of Microsoft Word or have the person who originally sent you the file resave the file as a Word2003 document.
