Building Your Business Success
<<<
Part Four>>>

Continuing from last week, here are more inexpensive ways to get your name out. Keep in mind that every person you meet is an opportunity to promote your business and you! Take advantage of the opportunity every time and you will begin to see the results in your bottom line...

Magnetic Car Signs: Sure, maybe cheesy... blatantly obvious, but a 1' x 2' sign on the side of your car not only lets you take advantage of possible business expense write-offs (check with your attorney), but let's everyone know who you are and who you work for every time you get in your car. Don't think it works? Wrong! If you are promoting your business, you need people to see you when you drive to the supermarket or to the bank. You can't easily hold your business card to your car window and have passer-by read it - a large sign on the doors and maybe another on the back of your car will promote you at every opportunity. Don't forget to give them a reason to call... especially if you put a sign on the back of your car. Also, keep in mind that your driving skills may effect your calls... be considerate and mindful when driving.

Your Phone:  The most essential part of your business is your phone. NOT YOUR VOICEMAIL! There are times when it will be impossible to answer your phone, but the best way to lose business is to let a potential client call someone else. Answering your phone is the best tool you can use! Answer your phone and always tell the person on the other end 1. who they are calling 2. that you are there to help them... why? Because anyone calling you is looking for your help. "Hi, this is Jim Agent with Sellstate...How can I help you?" -- WOW!!! The customer already knows who they are talking to, who they are with and that you are their to help them... Plus, they can talk to a 'real' person. If you're not writing off your phone bill for business, do it! If you can't answer the phone, let your clients and customers know that you're sorry you missed their call and you will get back to them... ask your caller to leave their name, phone number and best time to call them back...then call back!

Email and website advertising:  Make the most of technology. Having a website and email address to brand yourself is not only essential, but mandatory in today's business world. If your company provides a website and email, use it! Nobody knows your website, but they may know your company. The advantage is that you are branding yourself to a recognized entity. JAgent@sellstate.com is more recognizable than Joe@Iwanttosellyourhouse.com, and if you brand yourself with your company logo and website, you create a recognizable image that can help drive your success.

What services do you offer on your website? How do you promote your website? Am I wasting money on my website? Next time we'll address many of the internet concerns and review some 'best practices' for getting the highest return from your website and email marketing.
